Pancreatin 10X Labels: Separate Actual Mass, Equivalent Wording and Prescription Records

Keep a concentrated preparation’s actual quantity and equivalent wording separate, and never turn shared enzyme units into a prescription substitution.

A pancreatic-enzyme search can produce a supplement with a large front number and a prescription record containing familiar activity units. The numbers describe different fields. A useful buying record preserves the exact preparation, quantity and product class before any comparison. This guide addresses those fields as label evidence and supplies no treatment selection, replacement calculation or recommendation to take enzymes.

Preserve the complete preparation line

NOW’s consulted Pancreatin 2000 capsule panel lists a porcine Pancreatin 10X preparation at 200 mg and separately describes it as equivalent to 2,000 mg. Record the actual declared preparation quantity and the equivalence wording in different fields. Do not replace the actual quantity with the larger equivalent number or add the two together. The preparation designation also belongs with the ingredient identity; it is not an independent additional ingredient.

Keep activity entries attached to their named enzymes

The same panel separately lists amylase, protease and lipase activities in USP units. Those activities are additional descriptions of the preparation, rather than extra milligrams to add to the ingredient line. Copy each complete enzyme-and-unit pair if a detailed record is needed. A mass figure, a concentration designation and an enzyme activity answer different questions. This guide does not derive a biological effect, compare effectiveness or supply a conversion from a preparation’s label to an individual requirement.

Check the official record before grouping a prescription result

FDA’s consulted Purple Book table lists Creon as pancrelipase, an oral delayed-release capsule, with Rx and Licensed entries for the listed records. Keep that exact prescription identity separate from the NOW supplement. The table is evidence of the named prescription record’s status, not an authorisation to replace it with a retail supplement. Familiar enzyme names or activity-unit strings do not establish that the products are interchangeable. No prescription strength is converted or selected here.

Worked example: remove a false largest-number winner

Imagine an illustrative shopping sheet extracts 2,000 from the NOW title, treats it as actual capsule mass and compares it with a number copied from a Creon activity entry. Delete the single strength column. Create separate columns for product class, exact preparation name, actual declared mass, equivalence wording and named activity units. Keep the prescription record outside the retail-supplement ranking. The repaired sheet shows why the original number sort was meaningless without advising a replacement. Preserve the offered product’s full panel and source date, since another formulation cannot inherit this example’s declarations. Questions about a prescribed product belong with the prescriber or pharmacist using its actual documentation. A responsible comparison can stop after identifying that the search mixed a concentrated supplement preparation and a licensed prescription record.
